Why This Must Be Read: This was written for the Women of the Gate ficathon. The author put Elizabeth and Sam together in this fic, and as the main characters. Not only are they well written, but it's the kind of interaction they deserved, and I think that it's what most people would have wanted in the show. A fic really worth reading.

A friend brought this up after I showed her this article on the growing popularity of steampunk.

It does have elements of the (mostly Western) Victorian era mixed within a future setting. And there is a noticeable patina on Serenity. There are even goggles, corsets, and boots.

There are many elements, but I'm thinking the dealbreaker might be the fact that it's set in the future with Western-Victorian elements instead of some alternate reality futurist Victorian setting.

So, what say you?
